Graduate Nurses and Midwives Push for Posting After Years of Unemployment
The Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association plans to protest. They are upset about the government delaying job postings. Some members have been at home for up to five years.
A scheduled demonstration for this week had to be cancelled after the association was unable to complete necessary security arrangements with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command. Despite the setback, frustration continues to grow among the affected graduates.
Speaking to Citi News on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Gamal Osman, a 2021 nursing graduate, expressed the emotional and financial strain members are facing. He noted that remaining unemployed for years after completing training has left many unable to meet even basic needs.
The association maintains that it will keep exploring all legitimate means to push for the immediate posting of its members until the government responds.
