GAF Resumes 2025/2026 Recruitment Screening with New Sub-Centres After Stampede

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the resumption of the suspended 2025/2026 recruitment screening exercise for prospective recruits in the Greater Accra Region.

The exercise was halted last week following a tragic stampede at El-Wak Stadium, which raised concerns about safety and crowd control. After reviewing the incident and introducing new preventive measures, the GAF has confirmed that the screening exercise will officially resume on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

As part of the new arrangements, the GAF has redesigned the entire screening structure and will now conduct the exercise across eight sub-centres located within five key military installations. This decentralised approach aims to reduce overcrowding, streamline the process, and ensure a safer experience for all applicants.

The newly designated screening centres include two centres at El-Wak Stadium, two centres at Nicholson Park in Burma Camp, one centre at the Air Force Base in Burma Camp, two centres at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in Teshie, and one centre at the Eastern Naval Command in Tema. By distributing applicants across these multiple locations, the Armed Forces hopes to prevent congestion and minimise risks.

Qualified applicants will undergo screening in batches of 600 persons, and each candidate will receive an SMS indicating their reporting date, batch number, and assigned centre. Applicants are also advised to keep checking the recruitment portal for further announcements and updates.

The GAF has provided additional support for those who may not receive their messages on time. Any qualified applicant who does not receive a text message by Thursday, November 20, 2025, is encouraged to contact the helpline on 0256405104 or reach out via WhatsApp on 0256405154 for verification. Details can also be validated through the recruitment portal.

To maintain order and ensure a smooth process, the GAF has strongly advised that family members, friends, and other non-applicants should not accompany candidates to the screening locations.

Non-applicants will not be permitted entry into any of the centres. The Armed Forces emphasises that these new measures are essential for protecting applicants and ensuring the integrity and safety of the recruitment exercise following last week’s incident.
