Get ready for leadership positions ahead of 2028 – Bawumia tells NPP youth.
Mahamudu Bawumia

Mahamudu Bawumia has called on young members of the New Patriotic Party to position themselves for future leadership roles as the party intensifies preparations for the 2028 general elections. Speaking to student leaders ahead of a three-day boot camp organised by the party on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Dr. Bawumia explained that the initiative was designed to groom and equip the next generation of leaders within the NPP.

“I want you to be assured that this training program is for your benefit because we want the youth to take key leadership positions,” he stated, adding that the party could not place young people in leadership “if we don’t prepare you for the uptake of these leadership positions.”

The former Vice President also expressed confidence that the NPP could return to power in 2028 if members remain committed and organised. “2028, Inshallah, it is going to happen in 2028. It is possible. And we are going to work towards it,” he told the gathering.

Dr. Bawumia stressed that the party would not sit back and depend on luck, insisting that hard work and consistent engagement with young voters would be key to victory. He further revealed plans to deepen collaboration with the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party through regular campus visits and policy discussions across Ghana.

Addressing concerns about political pressure, he declared, “We will not be intimidated. You can arrest all of us. We will come back and make our case to the people of Ghana.”
