Nigerian Murder Suspect Arrested at Akyem Wenchi After Fleeing From Ogun State

The Eastern South Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old Nigerian national, Victor Benjamin Fejemirokum, who was hiding at Akyem Wenchi in the Denkyembour District after allegedly committing murder in Nigeria.

According to the Eastern South Regional Commander, DCOP George Ohene-Boadi Bossman, Fejemirokum is accused of abducting and killing a female Road Safety Corps officer and her daughter in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The suspect reportedly fled into Ghana in an attempt to evade Nigerian authorities.

Addressing the media, DCOP Bossman revealed that a viral video intercepted by the Police Intelligence Directorate helped track down the suspect. He explained that an intelligence-led operation was launched after police received reports that Fejemirokum had taken refuge in a friend’s house at Akyem Wenchi. The coordinated operation led to his swift arrest.

He noted that the suspect will be processed and handed over to Nigerian security officials for further investigations and prosecution.

DCOP Ohene-Boadi Bossman urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious individuals or movements within their communities. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in curbing crime, assuring residents of continued patrols and intelligence operations across the region.

Several mining communities in the Eastern Region have recently witnessed an influx of undocumented immigrants. The commander stated that the police, together with allied security agencies, have intensified efforts to crack down on illegal migrants and criminal networks.

“We are not going to sit in our comfort zones. We have strengthened patrols and intelligence operations through the Police Intelligence Directorate and the Criminal Investigation Department, and have already made several arrests,” he said. “We will get them.”
