Kwame Nkrumah II: TikToker Jailed Seven Months for Threatening Mahama and Other Government Officials

David Kwodow Prah Afful, widely known on social media as Kwame Nkrumah II, has been sentenced to seven months in prison after making threats against the President, Members of Parliament, and other government officials.

Afful appeared before an Accra Circuit Court, where he pleaded guilty to charges of threat of death and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace. During the proceedings, he asked for forgiveness from government officials for his actions.

The Ghana Police Service arrested Afful following a TikTok livestream in which he allegedly threatened to kill government officials, journalists, and civil servants, and encouraged violence using official green number plates. He was also reported to have threatened to burn marketplaces and incite others to carry out similar acts. Afful was apprehended at his hideout near Kasoa Market around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 13.

The police emphasized that while freedom of speech is respected, statements inciting violence, insecurity, or public disorder will not be tolerated.
