KNUST Student Dies After Falling From Second-Floor Hostel
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has confirmed that one of its students has died. This happened during an incident over the weekend.
On Monday, February 9, 2026, university management released a statement. They said the deceased was Ransford Amankwah Asomani. He was a second-year student studying for a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management.
Preliminary reports say Mr. Asomani fell from the second floor of an off-campus hostel at Ayeduase. This happened early on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He was taken to KNUST Hospital by his colleagues and the KNUST District Police Patrol Team. Sadly, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Management said the parents of the deceased have been formally informed, while the body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
The university expressed deep sadness over the incident and extended its condolences to the bereaved family and the entire university community.
Meanwhile, the KNUST Police, in collaboration with the university’s security services, have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Management assured the public that further updates would be provided once investigations are concluded and reiterated the university’s commitment to the safety, security, and well-being of all students and staff.
