Ministry of Interior Declares January 9, 2026, a Public Holiday
The Ministry of the Interior has officially declared Friday, January 9, 2026, as a public holiday across Ghana.
The declaration is in accordance with the Public Holidays Act and is intended to allow citizens to observe the day nationwide.
All public offices, schools, and most businesses are expected to suspend regular operations in compliance with the announcement.
The Ministry has urged the general public, institutions, and organizations to take note of the declaration and plan accordingly.
Essential service providers are advised to make the necessary arrangements to ensure uninterrupted services. Citizens are also encouraged to observe the holiday responsibly and in accordance with national laws and traditions.
