Islamic SHS Form Three Student Dies After Fall from School Building

A tragic incident occurred at Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, where a third-year Business student named Abass, who was also serving as the acting Boys’ Prefect, reportedly fell from the top floor of the school’s administration block on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The fall happened during school hours, prompting a swift response from both students and staff who rushed to assist. Despite being quickly taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Abass was declared dead upon arrival.

Sources within the school suggest that Abass may have been struggling with suicidal thoughts for some time, although school officials were unaware of any such concerns.

Family members, including his mother and uncle, along with some students, revealed that he had previously made comments about self-harm, but these were not taken seriously at the time.

Following the incident, school authorities informed the Regional Ghana Education Service, though an official statement has yet to be released. Abass has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
