Hohoe Circuit Court Jails Man for Stealing Church Musical Equipment
A 27-year-old man, Mohammed Rafiu, has been sentenced to a total of seven years’ imprisonment by the Hohoe Circuit Court after pleading guilty to unlawfully entering a church and stealing musical equipment.
Rafiu was arrested on June 5, 2026, near the Faith International Ministry Church in Hohoe, Volta Region, after witnesses noticed his suspicious behaviour while carrying a sack and attempting to hail a vehicle. Upon inspection, the sack was found to contain stolen church instruments, including an amplifier, equalizer, mixer, and crossover machine.
He was handed over to the Hohoe Police District, where he admitted to the crime. On June 8, 2026, he was arraigned before the Circuit Court and convicted on his own plea. The court imposed three years for unlawful entry and four years for stealing. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning Rafiu will serve four years in prison.

The Volta North Regional Police Command commended the vigilance of the public in apprehending the suspect and urged residents to remain alert and report suspicious activities to enhance community safety.
