Senegalese Teen Footballer Cheikh Touré Found Dead in Ghana After Kidnapping

A heartbreaking tragedy has hit Senegalese football, as authorities confirm the death of 18-year-old goalkeeper Cheikh Touré in Ghana.

According to Senegal’s Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Touré was deceived by fake football scouts who lured him with false promises of professional trials abroad.

Upon his arrival in Ghana, the scammers allegedly kidnapped him and demanded a ransom from his family. Sadly, when the family could not meet their demands, the kidnappers took his life.

Authorities in Ghana have launched an investigation and are working closely with their Senegalese counterparts to bring those responsible to justice.

The incident has sparked widespread grief and outrage, shedding light on the growing menace of football trafficking and fraudulent recruitment schemes that prey on young African players aspiring for international opportunities.

In a statement, the Senegalese Ministry urged clubs, academies, coaches, and parents to exercise extreme caution regarding unverified offers of trials or transfers abroad.
