Family of Late Helicopter Crash Victim Sues Widow Over Child’s DNA Test

The family of Samuel Aboagye, one of the soldiers who died in the recent military helicopter crash, has filed a lawsuit against his widow over a paternity dispute involving their child.

Sources close to the family revealed that the late Aboagye had allegedly expressed doubts about the paternity of the child before his death. He was said to have confided in relatives about his intention to conduct a DNA test, citing suspicions linked to his wife’s alleged past relationship with a Member of Parliament from the Ashanti Region—whom the family claims the child closely resembles.

Following the tragic crash, authorities requested DNA samples from relatives to assist in identifying the victims. During this process, Aboagye’s family reportedly sought to include the child’s DNA sample. However, the widow allegedly declined the request and subsequently travelled to the United States.

In response, the family has filed a lawsuit seeking a court order to compel the DNA test, arguing that it is necessary to address Aboagye’s stated concerns and bring closure to the matter.

The widow, through her lawyers, has filed a counter-injunction to prevent the test, insisting that her late husband is the child’s biological father. She maintains that the family’s claims are defamatory and intended to damage her reputation.

The case, which has attracted widespread public interest due to its emotional and legal implications, is currently before the court. A ruling is expected to determine whether the DNA test will proceed as part of the ongoing legal process.
