Mahama’s Government Will Continue Major Projects from Previous Administrations – Haruna Iddrisu

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has reiterated the government’s commitment to continue viable projects initiated by previous administrations, provided they deliver value for money and align with the nation’s development agenda.

He made the remarks during the commissioning of a 160-bed dormitory and a 24-unit girls’ sanitary facility at Bimbilla Senior High School in the Northern Region on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

The project, which was started under the previous government in collaboration with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), was completed and inaugurated under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

The event was marked by excitement among students and staff, who described the new facilities as a major relief to the school’s long-standing accommodation challenges.

Mr. Iddrisu commended the previous administration for initiating the project, stressing that continuity in governance was vital for national development.

“I will be the first to acknowledge the initiatives of the previous government and to assure you that President John Dramani Mahama, under his resetting agenda, will continue with worthy, viable initiatives of the previous government,” he said. “If it is adding to Ghana’s developmental needs, especially in building manpower, President Mahama will continue it.”

The minister, however, cautioned that projects found to lack value for money would be reviewed. He criticised the abandonment of several GETFund projects in the past, describing such practices as a waste of public resources.

“We will not behave like them, when a number of GETFund projects were left to rot,” he said. “These actions do not give taxpayers justification and the value for money on that project.”
