Gifty Oware-Mensah Charged Over GHS38.4 Million NSS Fraud Scheme

Former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority, Gifty Oware-Mensah, has been charged in connection with an alleged GHS38.4 million fraud uncovered within the Authority. Investigators claim she played a key role in facilitating the creation of ghost names and fictitious hire-purchase loans through the National Service “Marketplace” platform — a system originally designed to support personnel with affordable goods and services during their service year.

According to sources familiar with the case, the alleged scheme led to the diversion of millions of cedis in funds meant for legitimate service personnel. The case is expected to be closely monitored by anti-corruption bodies and the public alike, given Oware-Mensah’s prominent role within the Authority and her long-standing involvement in youth development initiatives.
