Cabinet Approves Payment of Salary Arrears for 6,500 Nurses and Midwives

Health Minister Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has announced that Cabinet has approved the payment of long-awaited salary arrears owed to 6,500 nurses and midwives who were part of the 2021 batch.

The decision brings relief to the affected health professionals, many of whom have been vocal about the delays in receiving their entitlements since their postings.

According to the Minister, the Ministry of Finance has been directed to commence payments starting November 2025. The move, he noted, demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing the financial concerns of healthcare workers and improving welfare within the sector.
