Ghana Shifts Security Service Recruitment to a Fully Digital System

Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has revealed that upcoming recruitment exercises for the Prisons, Immigration, Police and Fire Service will be conducted entirely online, ending the long-standing practice of in-person queues that often result in overcrowding and safety risks.

Addressing journalists on Friday, November 14, he explained that the era of paper forms and manual submissions is being phased out in favour of a modern digital portal that will unify recruitment across all four security institutions.

He noted that the portal will allow applicants to complete every stage of the process—from registration to final submission—using their mobile phones. The access code for the platform, he said, will be published on Sunday, November 16. “Our aim is to create a seamless, paperless and harmonised system that works efficiently across the services,” he assured.

This announcement comes in the aftermath of the tragic stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium during the military recruitment exercise. The incident left 28 applicants affected, including 12 in critical condition, five in intensive care and six confirmed dead.

A similar situation in Kumasi also resulted in five injuries. The Minister stated that the move to a centralised digital system is expected to drastically minimise congestion, improve safety and enhance the overall efficiency of future national recruitment exercises.
