Only 1,000 to Be Recruited from 180,000 Immigration Applicants – Interior Minister
Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak says more than 180,000 people applied to join the Ghana Immigration Service, but only about 1,000 will be recruited due to limited training and accommodation capacity.
Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has revealed that only a small number of applicants will be recruited into the Ghana Immigration Service despite the overwhelming interest from the public.
According to the minister, more than 180,000 people applied during the recent recruitment exercise, highlighting the growing demand for jobs in Ghana’s security services.
Speaking during a briefing reported by Citi Newsroom, the minister explained that the large number of applicants contrasts sharply with the current personnel strength of the Immigration Service.
He noted that the entire service currently has about 18,300 officers nationwide, making the competition for new recruitment slots extremely intense.
Mr. Muntaka further disclosed that only about 1,000 applicants will be recruited in the current exercise due to limited training and accommodation facilities available to the service.
He emphasized that while many young people are eager to join the security agencies, infrastructure constraints continue to determine how many recruits can be admitted at a time.
