Fresh Corruption Allegations Hit Ghana’s Computerized School Placement System

Fresh allegations of corruption are once again haunting Ghana’s Computerized School Placement System (CSSPS). The General Secretary of the Construction and Building Materials Workers Union (CBMWU), Richard Asamoah, has raised serious concerns about what he describes as a “bribery syndicate” operating within the placement process.

According to him, some officers are reportedly extorting between GHS 20,000 and GHS 35,000 from parents to illegally repost students to their preferred senior high schools — a practice he says undermines fairness and denies qualified students their rightful placements.
