Fake Police Officer Arrested at Shatta Fest in Accra

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 32-year-old man, Akoto Nelson, for impersonating a senior police officer during the Shatta Fest concert held at the Independence Square in Accra.

According to police reports, Nelson was apprehended on Sunday, October 19, 2025, after officers providing security at the event became suspicious of his conduct. Upon interrogation, he admitted that he was not a police officer and had donned the uniform of an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to gain free entry to the concert.

A subsequent search at his residence in Taifa-Ashaiman uncovered several items, including a toy pistol, pepper spray, mobile phones, and identity documents. Police say Nelson, who works as a security guard, remains in custody and will be arraigned before court.
