19-Year-Old Carpenter Jailed 50 Years for Defiling 7-Year-Old Girl in Tarkwa

A 19-year-old carpenter, Francis Cudjoe, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for defiling a seven-year-old girl. Cudjoe, who lived in Bankyim near Tarkwa, was found guilty on two counts of defilement after he repeatedly assaulted the young girl, a primary two pupil.

The court, presided over by Hathia Ama Manu, handed him 25 years on each count, to run consecutively, following his plea of guilty with explanation, which was overruled.

According to reports, Cudjoe was known to the victim’s mother, a local food vendor, and often ran errands for her before committing the crime. The disturbing act was uncovered after the victim complained of severe pain and bleeding, leading to his arrest and prosecution.
