Berekum Landlord Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Tenant to Death
Police in Berekum have arrested a 43-year-old landlord, Yaw Owusu, also known as Angolo, for allegedly stabbing his 25-year-old tenant, Bright Abotsi, to death during a heated argument over stolen mobile phones.
The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old landlord, Yaw Owusu, popularly known as Angolo, for allegedly stabbing his 25-year-old tenant, Bright Abotsi, to death during a heated confrontation at Awerempe in Berekum.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, November 7, 2025, around 10:30 a.m., after an argument erupted between the two.
According to police investigations, the dispute began when the landlord accused the deceased of stealing two of his mobile phones. In the heat of the altercation, Yaw Owusu allegedly stabbed Abotsi in the chest with a knife.
The victim was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum but was later pronounced dead. The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
