Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III Passes Away at Age 98

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has formally announced the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at the Manhyia Palace.

The announcement was made during a mandatory Asanteman Council meeting attended by all paramountcies and clans. A one-week observance for the late Queen Mother will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the age of 98. She was officially outdoored as Asantehemaa in 2017, following the death of her predecessor, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, in 2016. Her public unveiling coincided with the 67th birthday celebration of her brother, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace, and also marked the commissioning of the renovated ceremonial park named in honour of the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II. Located opposite the Manhyia Museum, the park features a well-maintained artificial turf and has since hosted numerous royal and traditional events.

Throughout her reign, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was revered for her influential role in the Asante Kingdom and her unwavering commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. She served as a pillar of support to the Asantehene and the broader traditional authority, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, dignity, and cultural pride.
