No Military Land Has Been Handed to Ibrahim Mahama – Ernest Brogya Genfi
Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi has rejected claims that military lands were handed over to Ibrahim Mahama. He clarified that the businessman donated GHC120 million towards a housing project at Burma Camp to improve accommodation for Ghana Armed Forces personnel.
Deputy Minister of Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, has strongly denied reports claiming that military lands have been handed over to Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of President John Mahama. He described the allegations as false and malicious, insisting that no such arrangement exists.
In a Facebook post shared on April 29, Brogya Genfi explained that the construction activity currently taking place at Burma Camp is part of the Ghana Armed Forces’ self-help housing project. According to him, the initiative is focused on replacing ageing colonial-era buildings that have become unfit for modern use.
Rather than receiving land, Ibrahim Mahama is said to be supporting the project financially. The Deputy Minister revealed that the businessman, who is CEO of Dzata Group Holding Limited, donated GHC120 million to fund the construction of 10 housing blocks, each containing 16 residential units.
He noted that the donation would go directly into improving accommodation for military officers and personnel, calling it an important step toward enhancing welfare within the Armed Forces.
The announcement was made during a fundraising luncheon at the Ghana Military Academy (GMA). The event was chaired by renowned businessman Sam Jonah and attended by several corporate leaders and partners of the military.
Brogya Genfi also expressed appreciation to Ibrahim Mahama, describing the contribution as an act of patriotism and generosity that would leave a lasting impact on the lives of service members. He added that the government remains committed to improving military infrastructure through public-private partnerships and continued investment.
