Ghana Armed Forces Selects First Batch of 2,000 Recruits for Training
Successful applicants to report on March 18 as GAF rolls out phased recruitment nationwide
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially completed the selection of 2,000 recruits, marking the first batch in a planned series of four recruitment phases. The announcement was made in a statement issued on March 17 by the Acting Director General of Public Relations, Captain Veronica Arhin.
According to the statement, all selected applicants are required to report on Wednesday, March 18, to their respective selection centres across all 16 regions of Ghana. They are expected to receive their appointment letters and prospectus ahead of the commencement of training.
GAF also encouraged applicants who were previously disqualified due to curable medical conditions to seek proper medical attention. These individuals will be given another opportunity to undergo a review at a later date at no additional cost.
In a compassionate move, the first batch includes 18 individuals who sustained injuries during the El-Wak Stadium stampede last year. Additionally, five others have been sponsored by families of victims who lost their lives in the tragic incident.
The Armed Forces expressed appreciation to all 16 Regional Administrations for their support, which made it possible to decentralize the recruitment process. This approach aligns with the government’s directive to bring recruitment closer to potential applicants across the country.
GAF further assured remaining applicants to remain patient as the selection process continues for the remaining batches. The military noted that a strong pool of candidates who performed well in the aptitude tests will be considered for future recruitment exercises beyond this year.
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces revealed that a directive to facilitate recruitment for individuals from Sikaman in the Ashanti Region—who assisted during last year’s helicopter crash rescue operation—is currently under consideration for the second batch.
