Man Arrested for the Murder of His 13-Year-Old Daughter at Kokrobite

The Weija Divisional Police Command has launched investigations into the heartbreaking death of a 13-year-old girl, Celestine Adonteng, who was reportedly subjected to severe physical abuse by her father at Kokrobite.

According to police findings, the victim sustained multiple injuries after being assaulted with a cane, a metal pipe, and other objects. Despite her worsening condition, she was denied medical care and kept confined in a room until police, acting on a complaint, found her unconscious. She was rushed to the Police Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say the suspect, 54-year-old mason Isaac Adonteng, has since been arrested to assist with further investigations. Items believed to have been used in the assault—including a metal pipe and a cutlass—were retrieved from the scene as evidence. The body of the young girl has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.

The Accra Regional Police Command is urging parents and guardians to avoid the use of excessive force in disciplining children, warning that such actions are unlawful and can lead to devastating consequences. The Command is also calling on the public to report all cases of child abuse and domestic violence promptly to ensure timely intervention and protection of vulnerable victims.
