JHS 1 Student Sustains Cutlass Wounds After Allegedly Pressing Classmate’s 'Breast'.
A JHS student is reportedly in critical condition after suffering a severe machete injury allegedly inflicted by a female classmate during a school sanitation exercise in the Central Region.
The incident occurred at Assin Krofofrodo D/A Basic School in the Assin North District, where students had reportedly been assigned to clear overgrown portions of the school compound using cutlasses.
According to reports, the altercation involved a 15-year-old JHS 2 girl and a male student during the exercise. The female student allegedly accused the boy of repeatedly touching her breasts despite several warnings for him to stop.
The girl reportedly told authorities that the boy continued the conduct even after she cautioned him multiple times. She claimed he persistently tried to touch her inappropriately while they were working on the school grounds.
In anger, the girl allegedly grabbed a cutlass and slashed the boy on the inner part of his wrist, causing a deep wound.
The injured student reportedly bled heavily and was later rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Sources say the injury was severe, leaving the student in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family has accused school authorities of negligence, claiming teachers failed to respond urgently after the incident happened during school hours.
According to the family, the injured student was allegedly left unattended for some time despite losing a significant amount of blood. They say it was only after one of the parents returned from the farm that the boy was finally taken to the hospital for medical care.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the victim’s elder sister, Joyce Enyan, called for a full investigation into how school officials handled the incident.
“He said a female colleague inflicted the cutlass wound while they were playing. He explained that he wrapped his arm around her neck and accidentally touched her breast,” she stated.
She further alleged that teachers did not act quickly after the injury occurred.
“His shirt was soaked in blood and he nearly collapsed before help finally came,” Joyce Enyan added.
