East Legon Spa Owner Busted With €225M Cocaine in France – The Jessica Hartog Story
Jessica Hartog, owner of Euros Spa in East Legon, has been remanded over the €225m cocaine bust intercepted in France.
Jessica Hartog owns Euro Spa and Beauty Lounge in Shiashie, East Legon.
She has been arrested and charged in the Accra High Court. She is accused of helping smuggle nearly four tonnes of cocaine. French authorities intercepted the cocaine in Dunkirk.
Hartog, 34, is alleged to be the fiancée of a key figure behind the operation.
He is identified as Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, also known as Bolle Jos. She was arrested by Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) operatives, along with three other Ghanaian suspects. They were linked to the shipment.
The four suspects are facing charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and unlicensed exportation of narcotic drugs. The charges relate to a container shipped from Tema Port. It was declared as plastic waste. It was found to contain 3.9 tonnes of cocaine. The cocaine had an estimated street value of €225 million. That is about $260 million.
According to court documents, the container was intercepted in September 2024 at the Port of Dunkirk in northern France following intelligence sharing between Ghanaian and French authorities. NACOC has described the bust as one of the largest cocaine seizures linked to Ghana in recent years.
Appearing before the High Court in Accra this week, Jessica Hartog pleaded not guilty to all charges. The presiding judge remanded her and the three co-accused into custody pending further investigations. The case is expected to be one of the major court cases in Accra this year.
The court has adjourned the case to October 13, 2026, for rearraignment. Prosecutors told the court they are still pursuing the main suspect, Bolle Jos, who is believed to be on the run and wanted in several European countries for drug trafficking. His alleged network has been under investigation across Europe for years.
The arrest has shocked residents of East Legon and Shiashie, where Hartog is well known as a beautician and entrepreneur. Euro Spa and Beauty Lounge has been a popular spot for beauty treatments among young professionals in Accra, with many customers taking to social media to express disbelief.
NACOC says investigations are ongoing and has warned exporters against using Ghana as a transit point for illicit drugs. The Commission added that it is working with international partners to stop the network behind the shipment. It also aims to prevent future smuggling attempts through Ghana’s ports.
