Interior Ministry launches investigation into alleged assassination attempts on Special Prosecutor
The Ministry of the Interior has started two investigations. This follows claims that Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng faced two assassination attempts. - A senior official from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) was attacked by police officers. This incident is part of a larger situation.

The claims were first made public by the OSP’s Director of Strategy, Research, and Communications, Samuel Appiah Darko, during an appearance on Joy FM’s Newsfile on December 6. Darko alleged that Mr. Agyebeng had been targeted while performing his duties and further claimed that he himself was handcuffed and beaten by 17 police personnel.
In a press statement dated December 8, the Interior Ministry described the accusations as serious matters with national security implications that could also undermine ongoing anti-corruption efforts. Preliminary checks, however, showed that the alleged attempts on Mr. Agyebeng’s life reportedly took place before 2025 and were never officially reported to any security agency.
Given the significance of the allegations, the Minister has ordered a full-scale inquiry into both the assassination claims and the supposed assault on Darko. The Ministry assured the public that the findings will be made public when ready and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens as they go about their lawful activities.
