Burkina Faso Lifts Tomato Export Ban After Talks With Ghana

Burkina Faso has officially lifted its ban on the export of fresh tomatoes following high-level discussions with Ghanaian authorities at the WTO MC14 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The breakthrough came after engagements between Ghana’s Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and her Burkinabè counterparts. The talks aimed to address trade bottlenecks affecting the supply of essential food commodities between the two countries.

The decision is expected to bring immediate relief to Ghanaian markets, which had been facing the threat of shortages and rising tomato prices. Ghana relies heavily on tomato imports from Burkina Faso, making the ban a major concern for traders and consumers alike.

With exports now resumed, market stability is anticipated in the coming weeks, potentially easing prices and restoring consistent supply across the country.
