“I will not sleep until the NPP regains power in the 2028 elections” — Dr Bawumia.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is committed to winning the 2028 elections. The former Vice President assured everyone on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. A group of party delegates visited him at his home. They wanted to show their support and confidence in his leadership.
Addressing the delegates, Dr Bawumia said their show of solidarity had strengthened the party’s position ahead of the next electoral cycle.
“You have saved the party by your action. Because the message is gone and in 2028, they cannot use the same message against us; it will rather give us strength,” he stated.
Dr Bawumia pledged to dedicate himself fully to the party’s rebuilding efforts, promising relentless work toward recapturing political power.
“I want to assure you that because you have imposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not sleep. I will work day and night to ensure that I bring the power to the NPP,” he added.
The NPP flagbearer emphasised that unity within the party would be critical to defeating the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the next elections.
According to him, the NPP has the numerical strength to secure victory if members unite behind a common agenda.
“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win,” he said.
Dr Bawumia described the party’s current efforts as entering a new phase and urged supporters to actively participate in rebuilding structures ahead of 2028.
“Our task is clear. At this time, we are moving to phase two. So I want to plead with you all to assist us in this fight,” he concluded.
