Female Lawyer Dies While Celebrating Black Stars' Victory Over Panama

The legal community and loved ones have been plunged into deep mourning after the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Sara Araba Tettey, a vibrant 26-year-old lawyer whose promising future was cut tragically short. What was supposed to be a night of pure joy and shared excitement quickly turned into a nightmare on Wednesday evening.

Sara was gathered with her friends at the Standard Hostel in Bomso, caught up in the collective thrill of cheering on the Black Stars. As the final whistle blew, sealing Ghana’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama at the World Cup, the room erupted into celebration. In the midst of that high-spirited jubilation, Sara suddenly collapsed from an apparent cardiac arrest, shattering the festive atmosphere and leaving her friends in absolute shock as they rushed her to the KNUST Hospital.

The desperation inside the emergency room was palpable as medical teams fought fiercely for her life, administering CPR for 45 grueling minutes, but sadly, they could not bring her back. Sara was a brilliant young woman who had only just begun to make her mark on the world, having graduated from the KNUST Faculty of Law and achieved her dream of being called to the Ghana Bar just last October.

As a fresh associate at O and A Legal Consult, she represented the very best of Ghana’s next generation of legal minds—ambitious, dedicated, and deeply loved. The devastating news of her passing has left her family, colleagues, and the entire KNUST community grappling with an unimaginable loss, turning a moment of national sports triumph into a time of profound, collective grief.
