Three Arrested in Yendi for Impersonating Sharaf Mahama on TikTok

Police in Yendi in the Northern Region have arrested three individuals for allegedly impersonating Sharaf Mahama, the son of President John Dramani Mahama, on the social media platform TikTok.

According to police sources, the suspects are accused of creating fake TikTok accounts using the name, images, and identity of Sharaf Mahama to mislead the public and engage unsuspecting users online.

The arrests followed complaints and intelligence reports indicating that the impersonators were exploiting the President’s family name for undisclosed purposes. The police subsequently tracked the accounts and apprehended the suspects during an operation in Yendi.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court to face charges related to impersonation and cyber-related offences.

Police have cautioned the public to be vigilant on social media and to verify the authenticity of online accounts, especially those claiming to represent public figures or their relatives.
