Thomas Partey Charged with Two More Rape Charges in UK.
Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape in the United Kingdom, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed. The Ghanaian international was previously charged in August 2025 with five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
According to reports, the latest allegations stem from a separate complaint filed in 2020 and involve a third complainant. Partey is scheduled to appear before a London court on Friday, March 13, where he is expected to enter a plea regarding the new charges.
He remains on bail in connection with the earlier case, which involves two complainants and is still ongoing. Partey, 32, left London on a free transfer after the initial charges became public and signed a two-year contract with Spanish side Villarreal last summer.
At the time, the La Liga club defended its decision to sign him, emphasizing the legal principle of presumption of innocence. Villarreal has not yet issued a statement on the latest charges.
Since joining Villarreal, Partey has made 21 appearances across competitions, totaling 1,068 minutes. He has started 12 matches and completed three full games.
Following Villarreal’s 3-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, manager Marcelino García Toral commented that it has been “very difficult to play” at Partey’s pace.
The legal proceedings in the UK remain ongoing.
