Showboy Arrested for Harassment, Blackmail, and Cyberbullying

Popular social media personality Showboy has been accused of engaging in harassment, blackmail, and cyberbullying over a three-year period, according to a report filed with authorities.

The complaint alleges that the accused repeatedly used digital platforms to harass and intimidate the complainant, while also engaging in acts described as blackmail and online abuse. The reported conduct is said to have spanned several years, raising concerns about prolonged misuse of social media and digital communication tools.

Although investigations are still ongoing, legal experts say the allegations, if proven in court, could carry severe penalties under Ghana’s Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038).

Under the law, blackmail is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, while cyber harassment or cyberbullying attracts a sentence of up to five years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both, depending on the severity of the offence.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether formal charges have been filed, and Showboy has not publicly responded to the allegations as of the time of reporting.

The case has sparked renewed public discussion about online harassment, digital safety, and accountability on social media platforms, particularly involving high-profile individuals.
