Shatta Wale Sues Blakk Rasta for Defamation, Demands GH¢100 Million in Damages
Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has reportedly filed a defamation lawsuit against outspoken media personality Blakk Rasta.
The suit, which seeks GH¢100 million in damages, stems from comments Blakk Rasta allegedly made linking Shatta Wale to individuals involved in fraudulent activities.
The remarks were reportedly made in the wake of the arrest of Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, and others in an ongoing extradition and fraud-related case.
According to sources close to the matter, Shatta Wale’s legal team argues that the statements were false, damaging, and injurious to his reputation, both locally and internationally. They contend that the claims have exposed the musician to public ridicule and could negatively affect his brand endorsements and business dealings.
Blakk Rasta, known for his blunt commentary on entertainment and social issues, has not yet publicly responded to the lawsuit. However, the development has already sparked intense debate on social media, with fans and industry observers divided over freedom of speech and the responsibilities of media personalities.
This legal battle adds to a growing list of high-profile defamation cases in Ghana’s entertainment industry, highlighting the rising tensions between celebrities and media commentators over public statements and accountability.
More details are expected to emerge as the case progresses through the courts.
