Mortician Arrested After Allegedly Using Dead Person’s Leg as Walking Stick
A mortician identified as Amaobi has reportedly been arrested in Buruku Local Government Area after he was allegedly seen using the leg of a deceased person as a walking stick.
According to reports, Amaobi, who manages a mortuary in Agwabi, was said to have taken the body part to a nearby shop while purchasing items. The disturbing incident reportedly attracted the attention of residents, leading to his arrest by local youths before security officers arrived.
During questioning, Amaobi allegedly claimed the act was meant to draw public attention to conditions at the mortuary. He reportedly said he wanted support to appeal to the government for assistance in evacuating more than 18 bodies said to have been deposited there following security operations last year. Authorities are expected to continue investigations at the police station in Buruku.
