Military Officer Remanded for Fatal Shooting of Engineer in Kumasi

​A 27-year-old soldier, Private Nsarkoh Christopher Nkyinkyi, has been remanded into custody following the tragic shooting of a civil engineer at the Ghana Armed Forces Central Command Headquarters in Kumasi.

​The victim, identified as Jeffery Boakye Danquah, was fatally shot at close range during an apparent misunderstanding at the military facility.

​According to reports, Private Nkyinkyi discharged a single round from an M16 rifle directly into Danquah’s chest.

The impact of the bullet was devastating, piercing through the victim's body and exiting through his back. Danquah tragically succumbed to his injuries as a result of the shooting.

​The court has ordered the suspect to be held in custody as investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the altercation continue.
