Laryea Kingston Appointed Head Coach of Uganda’s Men’s Youth Teams
Former Ghana international, Laryea Kingston, has been appointed head coach of all Uganda’s men’s youth national teams, marking a new chapter in his coaching career after parting ways with Ghana’s U17 side earlier this year.
Kingston’s new role places him in charge of the country’s youth football development structure, overseeing teams from the U20 level and below. However, he will not take charge of Uganda’s U17 team at the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar next month.
The current U17 coach, Brian Ssenyondo, who led the team through qualification, will continue to manage the squad throughout the tournament. Following the competition, Ssenyondo is expected to step aside as Kingston assumes full control of the youth teams.
Kingston’s appointment is seen as a major boost to Ugandan football, given his experience both as a player and as a developing coach with a strong track record in nurturing young talents.
