Headmaster Arrested for Allegedly Impregnating Underage Student in Shama District

The headmaster of Prevailing Academy in the Shama District of the Western Region, identified as Mr. Isaac Dunkwa, has been arrested for allegedly impregnating a final-year underage Junior High School (JHS) student.

According to reports, the headmaster attempted to cover up the incident by persuading a male student to take responsibility for the pregnancy in order to evade legal consequences.

The police have since launched an investigation into the matter, while the Department of Social Welfare has been notified to provide support for the victim.

Under Ghana’s Children’s Act, it is a criminal offence for an adult to engage in any sexual activity with a minor, and offenders found guilty face severe penalties, including imprisonment.
