We’ll take the law into our own hands if you renew GoldFields’ mining license - angry protester
A protester at the “South Africa Must Go” demonstration has called on President John Dramani Mahama not to renew the operating license of mining company Gold Fields.
The protester issued a strong warning during the demonstration, saying public reaction could escalate if the appeal is ignored.
“I am pleading with President John Dramani Mahama not to renew Gold Fields’ license. If the license is renewed, we will take the law into our own hands,” the protester said.
The demonstration was held to protest xenophobic attacks in South Africa and to demand stronger protection for Africans living and working across the continent.
Participants also called for justice for victims of such attacks, with organizers emphasizing the need for unity and safety for Africans in diaspora communities.
The comments have since sparked online debate due to the strong language used by some participants.
