Ghanaian Man Issues Warning to South Africans Ahead of June 30 Anti-Immigrant Protest
Tensions over South Africa’s planned June 30 protest against illegal immigrants continue to grow online after a Ghanaian man issued a strong warning in a viral video circulating on social media.
The man, who identifies himself as the “Ghana Youth President,” warned that any attack on Ghanaians living in South Africa would be met with retaliation in Ghana. His comments have since sparked heated reactions across several social media platforms, with many users expressing concern over the rising hostility between citizens of the two African countries.
In the video, the self-acclaimed youth leader claimed that Ghanaians would organize their own anti-South African protest on the same day South Africans stage demonstrations against illegal immigrants. He further alleged that South African women living in Ghana, particularly those involved in prostitution, would become targets if Ghanaians were harmed during the protests.
“If they touch one Ghanaian in South Africa, we will also touch two of their citizens living in Ghana,” he said, adding that any attacks on Ghanaians would be “multiplied” in response.
The video has generated widespread debate online, with many social media users condemning the inflammatory remarks and calling for calm. Others have urged authorities in both Ghana and South Africa to closely monitor the situation to prevent tensions from escalating into violence.
The planned June 30 demonstrations in South Africa are reportedly aimed at demanding stricter action against illegal immigration, a topic that has remained highly sensitive in the country for years.
