GES Introduces Online Classes for SHS Students in 2025/2026 Academic Year
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced new learning options. These options include online and off-campus learning. This is for Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools. This will start in the 2025/2026 academic year.
The initiative is mainly targeted at transition and double-track schools, where students will engage in structured virtual lessons during specific periods. GES has clarified that these online sessions are an integral part of teaching and learning, not breaks, and students are expected to fully participate and complete assigned tasks.
Despite the introduction of online classes, GES has emphasized that the academic calendar remains unchanged, with reporting dates and term schedules staying intact. To support effective learning, students will have access to digital curriculum materials, televised lessons, and school-based online platforms where available.
Parents and guardians have also been encouraged to supervise and support students during off-campus learning periods to ensure consistency and academic progress.
