Sacking Otto Addo Now Would Be a Big Mistake - Felix Ofosu Kwakye
Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu has cautioned against the dismissal of Black Stars coach Otto Addo, describing such a move as ill-timed and counterproductive ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has rejected calls to remove Black Stars coach Otto Addo. He said these calls are misplaced and poorly timed.

He argued that Otto Addo remains the right person to lead and prepare Ghana’s national football team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the United States.

On Friday, October 24, Kwakye Ofosu spoke in Parliament. He warned against quick decisions that might harm the team's stability and progress.

“There have been calls for the dismissal of the coach who guided us on this qualification path. I believe these calls are unfortunate and misplaced because the man who led us to qualification is best placed to prepare the team for the competition itself,” he said.

He further explained that national teams have limited time to regroup and train before major tournaments, stressing that a change in leadership at this stage would be counterproductive.

“It would be a tragic mistake to dismiss the coach and hire a new person who would have very little time to prepare the team,” Kwakye Ofosu added.
