Black Sherif Sued Over Alleged Unpaid Rent in Accra
Dr. Evelyn Esi Awittor has sued RBA Limited. This is the record label for Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif. She claims they owe her rent that has not been paid since August 2024.

The suit concerns a property located at the NTHC Estate in Accra, which was reportedly used as office space and a music studio.
The case is being heard at the Adentan Fafraha District Court, which has approved substituted service after difficulties in effecting direct service on the defendants. A hearing has been scheduled for March 3, 2026. Clarifying earlier reports, the court’s approval of substituted service does not amount to a ruling or enforcement order on the substance of the case.
Following initial media reports that incorrectly described the court’s decision as a “court order” against Black Sherif, several outlets have issued retractions and corrections. The incident has reignited discussions around responsible legal reporting and the need for rigorous fact-checking in Ghana’s media space.
Meanwhile, Black Sherif’s management and record label have not issued an official statement, as the artist continues with international tours and new music releases.
