"I Don’t Accept GHC5 and GHC10 as Offerings" – Bishop Obinim Warns Members
Bishop Daniel Obinim, the founder and leader of Believers Worship Centre, has stirred reactions after issuing a strong warning to members of his congregation over the amount they give as offertory in church.
According to him, he no longer accepts offerings of GHC5, GHC10, or even GHC20 in some of his branches, describing such amounts as disrespectful to both God and the church leadership. During a sermon, he instructed members who had brought such amounts to take their money back or risk being cursed if he personally collected it.
The outspoken preacher questioned how worshippers could claim to appreciate God’s blessings while offering what he described as “small money” in return. Speaking passionately to the congregation, Obinim said church members should show greater honour to God through their offerings, especially considering the blessings and protection they receive in life.
He also warned members not to enter the church auditorium with those amounts because they were no longer acceptable in some branches under his leadership.
Obinim further clarified that the directive mainly applies to his branches in Tema, Accra, and Kumasi. He explained that the minimum acceptable offering in those churches should now be at least GHC20.
His comments have since generated widespread discussion on social media, with many Ghanaians sharing mixed reactions over whether church offerings should be tied to fixed monetary expectations.
