State Drops Charges Against Two Accused in Abu Trica’s Alleged Fraud Case
The Attorney-General has officially dropped all charges against Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo. They are the second and third people accused in the extradition case. This case involves Frederick Kumi, who is also known as Abu Trica.
A notice of withdrawal from prosecution, dated January 14, 2026, was issued by the Office of the Attorney-General in Accra. The decision was taken pursuant to Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30). The notice confirmed that Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo have been discharged in respect of all charges previously brought against them in the case.
The notice, signed by Deputy Attorney-General Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, was addressed to the Registrar of the Gbese District Court in the Greater Accra Region. The two individuals were initially charged as accessories in a charge sheet filed on December 12, 2025, but are no longer subject to prosecution.
Meanwhile, Frederick Kumi, the first accused person, remains before the court as extradition proceedings continue. The case is linked to the 1931 Extradition Treaty between the United Kingdom and the United States, as applied between Ghana and the United States of America.
Kumi, also known as Emmanuel Kojo Baah or Abu Trica, is wanted by United States authorities for alleged fraud-related offences. He is accused of defrauding victims through false pretence, allegations which remain under judicial consideration.
On January 13, the Gbese District Court fixed February 7, 2026, as the date to rule on whether Frederick Kumi should be discharged from the extradition proceedings. He was arraigned under Ghana’s Extradition Act, 1960 (Act 22) to determine whether he should be surrendered to stand trial in the United States.
The upcoming ruling is expected to be a key moment in the high-profile case, which has attracted public attention due to Abu Trica’s social media presence and his portrayal of an extravagant lifestyle online.
