Two Nigerians Arrested Over Alleged Murder of Roommate in Tamale
Police in the Northern Region have detained two Nigerian nationals in connection with the death of a fellow countryman whose body was discovered inside a residence at Sanzirigu, a community in the Tamale metropolis.

The victim, identified as 36-year-old Nkemujika Uzorchuku Eze, was found dead in his bedroom on Saturday, prompting an immediate homicide investigation by the Northern Regional Police Command.

Authorities said the deceased shared a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzorchuku, the two suspects—Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa—as well as another Nigerian national, Godwin Nwafor.

Investigators responding to the scene reportedly found the victim lying in blood with a severe head injury. A towel had been forced into his mouth, while the room showed signs that it had been searched. During the examination, officers recovered a wooden pestle believed to be linked to the attack, together with other materials that have been preserved for forensic analysis.
The body was taken to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed the victim's death before it was transferred to the hospital's mortuary for preservation and a post-mortem examination.
As investigations progressed, intelligence gathered by police led officers to Tatale, where the two suspects were arrested while allegedly attempting to leave Ghana through the border into neighbouring Togo. They have since been transferred to the Tamale District Criminal Investigations Department for further questioning.
Police said the suspects allegedly admitted their involvement during interrogation. According to investigators, they claimed the deceased had refused to share money allegedly generated from internet fraud operations they had carried out together.
A subsequent search led to the recovery of several belongings believed to belong to the deceased. The items include mobile phones, laptops, a tablet, jewellery, clothing, wristwatches, personal documents and other valuables, all of which have been retained as exhibits.
The suspects remain in police custody and were expected to appear before court on Monday, July 13, as investigators continue gathering evidence.
Police say forensic examinations are ongoing, while efforts are also underway to obtain CCTV footage that could help establish the sequence of events leading to the victim's death.
