Two Men Jailed 15 Years for Robbery and Rape of 19-Year-Old Hairdresser

A 19-year-old hairdresser has found justice after being robbed and raped by two men along the Apollonia–Afienya road. The disturbing incident occurred on September 27 when the victim hired one of the suspects, Nicholas Tetteh, an okada rider, to transport her to Afienya.

According to police reports, Tetteh conspired with two others, including Joseph Tetteh, to ambush the young woman. Along the route, the men allegedly dragged her into a nearby bush, where two of them sexually assaulted her. The attackers also made away with her iPhone XR and handbag containing GH₵150.

The victim later reported the ordeal to the Zenu-Atadeka District Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), where she received medical attention and provided her statement to investigators. Swift police investigations led to the arrest of the suspects, who were charged with robbery and rape.

They were subsequently arraigned before the Gbetsile Circuit Court, which found them guilty and sentenced them to 15 years imprisonment each.
