Senior Police Officer Found Dead in Kitchen with Gunshot Wounds

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a senior police officer who was found with gunshot wounds at his residence in Akweteyman in the Greater Accra Region.

The deceased officer, identified as DSP Rockson Gyasi, was reportedly stationed at Tsito in the Volta Region. According to initial reports, he had travelled to visit his family home in Akweteyman on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Sources indicate that his wife, Mavis Boateng, discovered him lying motionless in a pool of blood in the kitchen of their home at around 5 a.m. A service pistol believed to belong to the officer was reportedly found placed on a kitchen stool nearby.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police say investigations are ongoing to determine what exactly happened. Family members and residents in the area have expressed shock over the tragic development as the police work to establish the facts.
