“No NDC Seat Will Be Safe in 2028 Elections” – Afenyo-Markin

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared its determination to reclaim political dominance in the 2028 general elections, insisting that no parliamentary seat currently held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be safe.

Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, March 18, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin made the bold assertion while addressing executives of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON). He urged party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation, emphasizing that victory in 2028 will depend on discipline, loyalty, and sustained voter engagement.

“If elections were held today, the NPP would be the majority. But that will also require hard work and loyalty. We have no doubt you will take up the mantle,” he stated.

The Effutu MP criticised the current administration, accusing it of failing to deliver on key campaign promises, including the proposed 24-hour economy policy. He also pointed to challenges such as stagnant cocoa producer prices and recent utility tariff hikes, describing them as signs of underperformance.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin further dismissed claims that the NPP marginalises certain ethnic groups, insisting the party remains inclusive and committed to representing all Ghanaians regardless of background.

At the same event, Akuapim North MP Samuel Awuku reinforced the party’s stance, declaring that the NPP will aggressively contest every seat currently held by the NDC.

“We will be joining our colleagues to storm the campuses. The 2028 election is ‘all play, all play’—no NDC seat is safe. We will approach every NDC seat like a normal seat,” he said.
