According to reports, the suspected illicit substance was detected and retrieved at the prison gate on Friday, June 19, 2026, during routine security screening procedures conducted by officers on duty before the commencement of the officer’s night shift.

The interception highlights the heightened security measures and vigilance currently being enforced across correctional facilities in the country.

Following the discovery, Chief Officer Osei-Bonsu was immediately handed over to the Kete-Krachi District Police to assist with ongoing criminal investigations.
